WHEN WE ARE BACK IN THE ORCHARD FOR APPLE TREE PRUNING
Rivers Nursery Orchard Site & Orchard Group welcome everyone to join in any of the activities, just bring your enthusiasm. For practical tasks no experience is necessary and all tools are provided. Please wear suitable clothing and bring a packed lunch if you are staying all day. The entrance to the Orchard is through the gates off Brook End, The Crest, in Sawbridgeworth.
All (usual) Maintenance Day Activities in the Orchard are from 10.30 am - 1.30pm.
All tools, and site safety instructions are provided.
The Rivers Nursery Site and Orchard Group is formed by people with a common interest in their local countryside.
The Rivers Nursery site is private land owned by East Herts District Council. Access to the site is by invitation of the District Council as landowner and no public rights of access are implied.

Tasting notes and information available on each variety.
Display of Hertfordshire and Rivers Orchard Heritage apple varieties from the National Fruit Collection Brogdale.
Freshly pressed, mixed variety, organic apple juice from this year’s crop.
Fruit Identification experts will be present to show latest progress with major Apple Identification Project currently running in East of England.
Supporting activities from Rivers House students at The Leventhorpe School.
Competitions: Longest peel, apple barrel etc children’s competitions.
Art Display based on May Rivers illustrations by High Wych Primary School.

Last but not least we are an official collection point for apples for identification from across Hertfordshire and Essex.
