Fruit blossom in Rivers Nursery Site & Orchard is at least 2 weeks early this year due to the warm weather with temperatures on average 8C higher than normal for this time of year coupled with many hours of intense sunshine.
The apricots flowered during March and have now all gone over.
Plums followed quickly and some have reached 90% petal fall
Hedge Plums and wild cherry are in full blossom in week of 6-10th April
The Czar plum (a Rivers native) had 10% flowers open on 6th and by 9th was full flower.
Pears are now also in full bloom, apples have again advanced but not quite flowering yet, overall things have really speeded up with the constant warm weather. This has left us with glorious evening sunsets in the orchard.
Here you will find some recent images.
We will update this feature and post new pictures in the coming weeks as the blossom show continues its short season, so check back.
Enjoy !
